1983: David Bowie, with guitar work courtesy of Stevie Ray Vaughan reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart for the second and final time with “Let’s Dance” which stayed on top for one week.

1983: Def Leppard made their first and only appearance on American Bandstand where they performed “Photograph” & “Rock of Ages”.

1980: Joe Strummer is arrested after The Clash performed in Hamburg, Germany. Strummer was arrested for smashing a guitar over the head of an audience member.

 

1971: Paul McCartney released Ram, which was the only album credited to Paul & Linda McCartney. The album went on to reach number two on the album chart and sell one million copies in the U.S.
