1966: Simon and Garfunkel reached number one on the U.S. singles chart with “The Sounds of Silence”. This single only reached number thirteen over in the U.K.


1980: Rush released their seventh studio album, Permanent Waves. This album would go on to peak at number four on the Billboard Hot 200 Album Chart the following month, giving Rush their first top five album in the U.S.

1990: A St.Petersburg radio station played Led Zeppelin’s hit “Stairway to Heaven” for twenty-four hours straight as they launced their all-Led Zeppelin format.
