In 1995, R.E.M. bassist Mike Mills underwent abdominal surgery while in Germany in the midst of their tour in support of Monster. Several shows were cancelled.

In 1981, Def Leppard released their second album High ‘n’ Dry which was their first album to be produced by Mutt Lange & it went on to peak at number 38 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart.

In 1979, Los Angeles’ Bruin Theatre hosted the premiere of Neil Young’s concert film Rust Never Sleeps.
